Driving: Full UK Manual Driving Licence required to drive British Red Cross vehicle

We are looking for a caring and resilient person, who can think on their feet in a pressured environment to join our Health and Care team as a Service Support Worker within Gwyned.

Based in fast paced, busy and intense Emergency Department, you will provide practical and emotional support to patients. You will undertake non-medical tasks to free up the medical staff to be able to focus on their clinical role and make visitors' stay as comfortable as possible.

A day in the life of a Service Support Worker will involve:

  • Escorting patients to assigned departments
  • Collecting prescriptions to speed up their discharge
  • Providing emotional support/pastoral care while they await treatment
  • Providing emotional support to close friends and families
  • Ensuring patients have food/drink while waiting for long hours and assisting with food distribution at meal times
  • Driving patients home when discharged and making sure they are safely settled at home
  • Signposting and referring patients to other sources of support in the community

Please note: The Service Support Worker will not have set days, they will work 10 hour shifts (being paid for 9 hours) twice per week on a 7 day rota which includes weekends and all bank holidays where the days they work will be rostered in line with Service needs and their availability.

To be a successful Service Support Worker, you’ll need:

  • To know how to improve service quality for the benefit of users, dealing with queries in a diplomatic and confidential manner.
  • A good knowledge of services provided by the NHS and Social Care.
  • Education to GCSE level (or equivalent by experience).
  • To be IT literate.
  • Full UK driving licence allowing you to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
